Job Summary

The Store Technology Engineering Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, documentation, and support of the Store Technologies environment focused on a Point of Sale (POS) and transaction ecosystem. They provide technical designs to meet new functional requirements, implement upgrades and fix issues. This role will contribute to project plans, documents, and deliverables. Ensures the research, investigation and root cause analysis of application software faults are executed properly by team members. Coordinates feature and fix integration into main software release pipelines.

Principal Duties

  • Provide leadership on projects, design, architecture, and facilitate the definition of project deliverables. Complete project deliverables based on the agreed scope; estimate work effort, duration, resources, and requirements; ensure that requirements are being met. Define tracking mechanisms and ensure IT standards and methodology are met; manage client expectations and project scope; motivate team members; track IT resources; appropriately report status; deliver quality results.
  • Understand and facilitate the documentation of business processes and procedures cross-functionally. Leverage this knowledge to identify and recommend process and technical solutions to solve business problems.
  • Participate in initial investigation of software; document system requirements; help evaluate technologies and their capabilities; perform gap analysis between business needs and the technology capabilities; design systems architecture; and develop and execute test scripts. Facilitate the creation of Request for Proposal's, technical and functional specification documents.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering tasks. Analyze requirements for system enhancements and modifications. Facilitate the documentation of business and technical requirements. Research and analyze options; recommend solutions; and write functional specifications.
  • Design solutions based on requirements, create test scripts, and perform unit testing, create and test installation scripts and procedures.
  • Lead and oversee technology solution standards, documentation, priority, and performance leveraging project management oversight to direct the departments associated vision and strategy.
  • Architect and design new and existing store technology related solutions to meet growing business and technology ecosystem demand. Apply technical skills to create, update and maintain designed solutions to ensure security, operational and system excellence.
  • Facilitate planning and execution of appropriate user acceptance testing with business owners.
  • Facilitate and participate in execution and planning of robust end-to-end testing, coach team members on development and testing best practices.
  • Serve as technical lead for operational support issues escalated by team members of key business partners. Work with IT and outside vendors to resolve technology issues for the business, corporate departments and other IT groups.
  • Lead technology initiatives for the Store Technology Engineering team, by establishing an aligned design and architecture with project managers, security team and leadership. Document design to secure and enable technology infrastructures. Ensure documentation and artifacts are maintained on a regular basis in order to help enable secure, optimal performing solutions of targeted technologies.
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures and standard operating procedures as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with other IT departments in the execution of system reboots; maintenance, upgrades/implementations, system and data restorations, mass data changes and system cleanup. Investigate and remedy the root cause of service delivery incidents. Work with software vendors and their resources and provide communication to the business owners.
  • Coordinate business and technology departments with the roadmap features and functions that are of interest to the overall business and department goals and playbook.
  • Effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization and explain technical issues clearly and concisely.
  • Maintain communication between our customer and vendors pertaining to external projects. Keep project manager and direct project team updated on project status.
  • Coach and mentor other team members in their development; provide constructive suggestions as to recommended processes, procedures, and templates. Actively seek opportunities for roles which provide career growth for Associates; serve as a resource and knowledge expert to project manager in the project areas. Participate in the appraisal process by providing feedback to Project Manager for direct report associates. Participate and provide input on the hiring and selection process. Conduct and coordinate team cross-training.
  • Determine hardware, operating systems, and application requirements for responsible infrastructure. Leverage internal and external resources in order to align requirements for optimal implementation, support, and operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning methodologies and tools and IT standards and guidelines
  • 10+ years of related work experience including 5+ years of application support experience
  • Achieve certifications and\or knowledge and understanding in multiple appropriate strategic technologies. Examples include:
