Job Description

The Service Desk Technician is responsible for supporting the Desktop, Security and Server environment. The System Analyst is dynamic, motivated and able to perform independently as well as work in partnership with various technology disciplines such as Windows, Security and Networking. This includes the deployment and troubleshooting of all hardware, operating systems and applications. This position is responsible for receiving and responding to customer problems received via the ticketing system, phone and email.

Key Responsibilities
Functions include but are not limited to the following:
  •  Respond to and resolving support requests for the end users.
  • Perform hardware and software system configuration, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting of workstations, laptops, mobile devices and printers.
  • Responsible for the administration and deployment of a wide array of server hardware and software in a both a physical and virtual infrastructure.
  • Support Outlook 2016 on MS Exchange 2016 and Office 365 email system.
  • Install, configure, and document various software packages upon user request and proper approvals.
  • Maintain workstation and server security patches, virus updates and efficiency tuning.
  • Configure iPhone, iPad and Android devices utilizing Exchange ActiveSync and Mobile Iron
  • On-board new employees, create accounts, and order hardware and software for those employees, assist in the training and orientation of new staff in the use of hardware and software
  • Support Market Data applications and infrastructure (Bloomberg, TradeWeb, Thompson One, Factset, etc.) and related add-ins.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all Servers, PCs, printers, software, licenses and related equipment
  • Responsible for building and installing Windows Physical and Virtual servers in the enterprise environment.
  • Assist with Cisco IP phones and British Telecom (BT) trading turret maintenance.
  • Perform Windows server administration tasks such as monitor server performance, patching, manage network shares and printers, maintaining disk space, etc.
  • Supports telephony adds, moves and changes as required
  • Assist with Cisco IP phones and British Telecom (BT) trading turret maintenance.
  • Assist internal customers by providing Audio/Video Conference support for presentations and meetings.
  • Perform image builds for use on Windows using MDT and Acronis
  • Interact with vendors to facilitate repairs of hardware, i.e. printers, laptops and desktops
  • Perform daily system monitoring using various tools, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware/virtual workstation and server resources
  • Bachelor Degree preferably in an IT related field
  • Minimum 4 years IT experience providing desktop support in a Windows and MAC environment, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Certifications – MCSA, MCSE, Network+, Security + certs
  • Problem solving skills and ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Generalist knowledge in various IT areas, such as networking, desktop support, and security, and methods used in those areas.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be available to travel to alternate business sites as needed.
  • Work on weekends and beyond normal business hours when required.
  • This position will be part of a shift rotation. (The shifts are 7am-3pm, 9am-5pm and 11am-7pm)
Primary Skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite 2016 and Office 365
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN, Cisco VoIP and BT Turret system
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server 2012/2016 and server hardware.
  • Strong Knowledge of VMWare administration
Secondary Skills
  • Strong technical experience with Wintel technologies: Windows 10, Windows server 2012/2016 and Mac OS
  • Active Directory and all related technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, GPO
  • Outlook 2016, Exchange 2016 and MS 365 Administration.
  • Experience with JIRA ServiceDesk and Confluence.
