Job Description

Job Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of complex network infrastructures that ensure high availability, performance, and security. This role involves configuring, deploying, and maintaining network equipment; monitoring system performance; troubleshooting issues; and applying necessary updates. The ideal candidate will also lead infrastructure projects, support security initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and maintain comprehensive network documentation. The position supports enterprise-wide connectivity across data centers, branch offices, and corporate locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, patch, deploy, and maintain the enterprise network across data centers, branch offices, and corporate locations.

  • Ensure maximum network uptime and performance through proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and incident resolution.

  • Lead and manage network upgrade and maintenance projects, including attending project and PMO meetings, managing timelines and tasks, and reporting on progress.

  • Supervise assigned technical staff and provide mentorship as needed.

  • Regularly investigate and resolve incidents and problems using the IT Service Management platform.

  • Collaborate with IT security teams to implement and maintain strong network security measures, ensuring compliance with least-privilege principles.

  • Prepare and execute Change Requests for production systems, including test and rollback planning, coordination, and after-hours execution when necessary.

  • Work directly with branch office support teams during outage recovery, planned upgrades, and network modifications.

  • Engage with service providers and technology vendors to stay current with emerging solutions, manage support cases, and track key deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and operational procedures.

  • Contribute to annual budget planning and strategic initiatives related to network infrastructure.

  • Support compliance efforts and participate in audits, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Fortinet and Cisco routing/switching technologies, including BGP; CM experience is a plus.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in network architecture, LAN/WAN administration, wireless technologies, and network security.

  • Solid understanding of communication protocols, scripting, and security best practices.

  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, especially in high-pressure situations and outage management.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • Experience collaborating with external vendors such as Cisco TAC for troubleshooting and planning.

  • Hands-on experience with technologies including Citrix NetScaler Load Balancers, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewalls, Fortinet FortiGate, and Aruba Wireless.

  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings on projects and incident resolution.

  • Experience leading change control processes and managing network upgrade projects.

  • Prior experience in a public company environment preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and cloud-based network technologies is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience required.

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE) are a plus.
