Senior Consultant Databases Manager
Summary
The Senior Consultant Databases Manager is a part of the Business Intelligence Team and provides support to internal sales efforts as well as clients’ and consultants’ use of third-party databases as they seek to learn more about our clients’ capabilities. Will work closely with the Business Intelligence Manager and the larger Distribution team in ensuring our clients’ data is accurate and up to date including consultant databases and various reporting tools. Databases include: eVestment Alliance, Mercer GIMD, Callan, Wilshire, Broadridge, Morningstar, CAMRADATA, etc.
Expertise & Responsibilities
Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Drive the evolution of our clients’ ongoing database reporting needs and innovate process improvements
- Manage the population of consultant databases for our clients’ equity products and act as a subject matter expert internally, for parent company, and among industry peers. Monitor how the firm is positioned in databases versus peers and identify areas of improvement
- Partner with our clients’ fixed income marketing team to share best practices, processes, and troubleshooting efforts
- Evaluate and report quantitative database search metrics to identify areas of improvement in marketing messaging, population process, and distribution opportunities. Analyze intelligence on missed opportunities
- Seek out and assess new databases and target audiences and present the potential value-add to the firm’s distribution efforts
- Collaborate with Consultant Relations and Product teams to determine marketing strategy for consultant databases. Implement plans as required for databases including new products and vehicles
- Collaborate with firm SMEs to evolve content for top industry issues for reporting in databases (i.e. ESG and D&I)
- Conduct quarterly post-mortem analysis to troubleshoot Omni issues with eVestment support team
- Collaborate with Product Development, Portfolio Specialists, and Marketing team when new products launch to create and maintain database content and profile
- Partner with Marketing to ensure that quantitative and qualitative data in consultant databases is consistent with other marketing materials (RFPs, Presentations, website, etc.)
- Act as database liaison between investment consultants and Our clients’ Consultant Relations teams for external information requests
- Ensure data quality control by working with internal and external automated reporting tools including troubleshooting data and resolving technology issues in order to minimize manual efforts each quarter
- Collaborate with Portfolio Specialists and Marketing to ensure strong and accurate qualitative information is available for our clients’ investment strategies and work in partnership with Portfolio Specialists, Business Development, and Consultant Relations teams to understand how our clients’ input is viewed by plan sponsors and consultants
- Collaborate with the Business Development, Consultant Relations, and RFP teams for ad hoc new business opportunities where a database is used in addition to or in lieu of RFP. Update SalesForce with relevant information for new business opportunities, tracking the database roll in the sales cycle, to be used in senior management reporting
- Develop processes for workflow management and communication flow
- Develop and conduct sales-related projects focused on identifying and assessing trends like demographic, etc. within the firm’s client database. Identifies areas of growth potential within the database, and analyzes and may recommend direct sales improvements
- Create and maintain an annual review calendar and methodology for investment strategies and vehicles that is aligned with our clients’ priorities and strategic goals
- Act as strategic and information bridge between the Jennison operational teams that manage/produce data and the broader Business Development and Consultant Relations business teams. Identify and take ownership for areas of improvement and opportunities for value-added services to the distribution teams. Collaborate as needed with other internal clients and audiences
- Act as database liaison between investment consultants and our clients’ Consultant Relations teams for external information requests
- Partner with PGIM to assist marketing sub advised fund vehicles
- Provide sales support, enabling new business
- Gather metrics to report to Management
- Attend industry conferences, as appropriate.
Background Profile
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an asset management firm and 5 years of experience populating consultant databases
- Bachelor’s degree
- Understand business implications of decisions; aligns work with strategic goals of the organization
- Knowledge of data points being used to market products to monitor data integrity
- Strong knowledge of investment management databases, the RFP, and consultant questionnaires
- Familiarity with eVestment tools including Omni, CRM system such as SalesForce, and RFP software such as Qvidian a plus
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and positive work ethic. Demonstrates ability to solve problems, make decisions and follow up as needed
