Restoration & Remediation Engineer-Consultant

 

Position Summary:
We are actively looking for highly technical Restoration & Remediation Engineers to consult on the weekend coverage/shift for our client's Incident Response Team. Specifically, this role would work closely with their Restoration & Remediation team comprised of IT professionals called upon to go above and beyond to help our clients respond to and recover from cyberattacks.

 



Responsibilities:

General

    • Work closely within the Restoration & Remediation team and also as a part of the greater Incident Response team
    • Technical ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair systems and networks
    • Understanding of host-based and network-based security issues

Client Management

    • Provide support to clients in restoring all critical IT functions and network infrastructure to ensure that their systems are restored and up and running in a timely fashion
    • Self-starter committed to meeting tight deadlines with a strong work ethic
    • Demonstrates professionalism and exhibits a positive attitude, represents client's brand
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on customer service
    • Ability to remain calm and composed when faced with tough customer situations




 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications, Required:

    • 3+ years professional experience involving work directly related to restoration, recovery, configuration, and troubleshooting of networks and general IT capabilities 
    • Ability to work on weekends and provide the weekend coverage for our Restoration and Remediation Engineering Team 
    • Proficient with promoting new domain controllers, seizing Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) roles, DNS troubleshooting, rebuilding System Volumes (SYSVOL), and rebuilding Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) or File Replication Service (FRS).
    • Proficient with Active Directory/Exchange administration
    • Experience with rebuilding and recovering Exchange Systems from Server 2010 onwards
    • Familiarity with /recover server switch on setup, rebuilding virtual directories, repairing databases, and using recovery databases
    • Proficient with network configuration and troubleshooting, possess a solid understanding of computer deployment management systems and disk imaging solutions
    • Experience with supporting Microsoft Windows workstations and applications
    • Competent with firewalls, VPN’s, Active Directory, Group Policy, Linux, and Windows systems
    • Familiarity with Hypervisors, including ESXI / VMWare Hyper-V
    • Provide well-thought-out findings, both in technical and non-technical terms, to help customers re-establish business operations
    • Take ownership of customer issues, including initial troubleshooting, identification of root cause, and issue resolution or escalation.
    • Excellent relationship management, customer service, and communication skills in multiple forms (written, conference calls, in-person/virtual meetings)


Qualifications, Preferred:

    • Experience navigating networking issues related to firewalls and routers
    • Familiarity with various backup solutions (VEEAM, Datto, Barracuda, etc.)
    • Prior digital forensics or incident response experience
    • Passionate about technology and customers
