The Advisory Business Analyst (BA) works as a liaison between the entire Advisory practice and the Information Technology (IT) department for a top ten accounting firm with office throughout the United States, and with an international presence.  The BA understands the Advisory business model, structure, policies, product lifecycle and operations; understands key business problems that Advisory faces; elicits requirements, aligns solutions with IT strategy/Firm strategy; recommends recommends/validates solutions; identifies process optimization opportunities; and functions as an on-boarding point of contact for Advisory staff.  The BA also has technical analyst responsibilities and will work closely with other groups in IT to provide end to end support of applications and services.

 

Business Analyst Role Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and tier 3 support for all Advisory applications and services
  • Build relationships with the Advisory practice leads and members
  • Identify, understand, and document business needs and requirements, and ensure the needs align with overall Advisory goals and business strategy
  • Complete current state analysis, requirements gathering, process workflows, and documentation
  • Communicate with the business on a non-technical level, and with the IT department on a more technical level
  • Work with the business to develop and update system, training, and user documentation
  • Work with and manage outside vendors, including attendance at relevant seminars and conferences
  • Complete RFI/RFP process; build business cases and assist with vendor evaluation and selection and system implementation processes
  • Participate in the creation of project plans and work closely with Project Management Office to implement and manage systems
  • Be actively involved in the training of end users and facilitate system and service transition to the business

 

Technical Analyst Role Responsibilities

  • Ability to solve any technical/business issue by using any of the Advisory applications, help files, vendor support, and independent research
  • Ability to identify solutions to key Advisory problems, using in-house or new applications
  • Understand and communicate application strategy for all vendor applications: work closely with vendor on all aspects of product support, including new releases
  • Test new enhancements, create change management for upgrades and implement upgrades
  • Conduct data migration and data analysis
  • Promote consistent usability across all levels of usage
  • Work within general Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology guidelines
  • Interact consistently with the IT department to ensure specifications are in line with the most efficient available technical solutions
  • Participate in UAT planning & execution including the documentation and assistance in the execution of test scripts
  • Complete on-boarding for all new Advisory staff, including coordination of account creation and hardware procurement and build

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Work in the accounting, tax, financial services or legal industry a plus
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient in working in multiple versions of Windows and familiarity with infrastructure components
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Cloud based solutions, SQL, Citrix, basic security principles
  • Familiarity with management and deployment of cloud solutions
  • Strong competency with Microsoft Office applications including Visio and Project
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment on multiple priorities
  • Understanding of mobility concepts, options and vendors
  • Proven skills in process flow analysis, diagrams, and business modeling
  • Minimum of two years of experience in business analysis and project management
  • Strong communication skills and ability to quickly engage and find solutions essential
  • Ability to work with a largely remote workforce across several time zones
  • Ability to understand international regulations and apply where necessary
  • Willing to work as an effective member of a team, but capable of working independently to solve complex problems
  • Ability to be available outside of normal business hours to accommodate international employees’ needs
  • Demonstrated ability in working successfully with senior business managers, technology managers and staff levels
  • Understanding of budgeting processes
  • Some travel required, as per project needs
